Prom Night

095/365

This is what my Saturday night looks like - finally watching the 1995 Pride & Prejudice (I'm on episode two of six!) and eating my nighttime snack of a banana, (dry) rice chex, and milk. I should probably figure out what I'm going to knit next, but I just don't feel like it tonight.

Tonight is prom for my high school. I decided against going last year, my senior year, because, well, I don't like to dance. Instead I stayed at home and had Papa John's pizza, which gave me much more delight than prom ever would. I guess you could say that I'm a simple gal.

Cone of Shame

094/365

My poor baby! Today we had to put the cone of shame on him. It's a tad hilarious. We had to move the recycling bin because he scoots it over every time he walks into the kitchen. His balance is a little messed up. When he gets water from the bowl, the bottom of the cone gets in the water and he ends up licking some of it off of it. You better believe I recorded him eating, because he couldn't quite figure it out.

We didn't just put it on him for fun, however. He has some sort of mole or something on the left side of his face, and he just kept scratching it, which was making it bleed a good amount and it was getting on the floor. I actually was woken up at about 6:45 this morning by my parents because they needed my help in cleaning him off. They held him down while I tried to clean some of the blood off that side of his face and even under his ear.

I'll spare you pictures, because it's not very pretty. We're really hoping having the cone on will help it to heal up. Thankfully, he doesn't seem too miserable. Only a few days, Mr. Bojangles, and then you can be a free dog again!

Project 12/52: Cable and Gusset Mittens

My first pair of mittens! Oh goodness, I was too excited for these. When I first bought Margaret Radcliffe's Circular Knitting Workshop I knew I wanted to knit these. They're just so precious. Add in the fact that they're done on US10s and I was able to finish each mitten in a matter of hours.

They're not perfect, obviously. You can see how the thumb isn't the best, but I did weave in the ends better on the second go so that it's a tad less noticeable. Then there's a visible line where the DPNs met, so that looks annoying, but I have no clue how to fix it. I made sure to knit tight each time, but it just didn't work out. And, seriously, I have got to start counting how many rows I do for things like the ribbing and thumbs. This was my first time to do kitchener stitch, so that was interesting. It's not my favorite part of knitting, obviously, but that seam is so nice. I think that's the part I'm most satisfied with. That, and those gorgeous cables!

I will definitely knit these again, however. It's a beautiful, quick, and fairly easy pattern. The yarn isn't the best, but right now I'm focusing more on the skills. I've already bought another book to knit through where I'll focus on the fiber.

WIP Wednesday

I'm a tad stuck on what to knit next/I'm trying to bust my small stash of yarn, so I'm knitting another dishcloth. I already miss knitting in the round.

Project 11/52: Bubble Bag

This photo is way overexposed - I know. I've tried a number of things and random photos I upload to blogger just mess up like this. #annoying

I didn't like this project. It was just on of those things that I didn't have a use for, so it seemed pretty pointless to me. I only made it because it's from this book that I'm working through. I ended up giving it to a lady at work whose daughters I thought would be able to utilize it somehow. I don't have any complaints with the pattern itself, just the final product. Is that weird?

I won't knit this again for fun. If someone wanted me to I would, but definitely not just for fun. It was knitted from the top down, and the bottom picture shows the three-needle/one-over-two bind off. It was interesting to start it off smaller and slowly increase it until it reached the real "bubble" diameter. This was also the first time I used all five double pointed needles. I casted on project 10/52 with five DPNs going, but it was only for a few rounds. It definitely made me kinda hate DPNs. I'm beyond ready to work on a hat or something now.

It was a fairly quick knit, which is ALWAYS nice. Just a day or so and I was done. I made it in between the pair of mitts I'll post about on Thursday.
