Thoughtful Gifts

This picture shows some pretty thoughtful gifts from loved ones! On top is the care package that came in the mail today from one of my managers at my store in Dallas. We had a girl's night at her house the week before I left. Jenna and I just made bookmarks, but she asked me to make a list of sewn goods for her to make for me. A few weeks later and I have a few flannel pillowcases, a set of hats and gloves, and animal crackers to enjoy! I'm not sure Diane will ever end up reading this post, but thank you!! I can't wait to learn to sew from you this summer!

In the background is the blanket Ally, my roommate, crocheted for me!! Yes, really. She started it last semester in front of me, but she told me it was a purse. I didn't think it would end up as a purse, but I didn't expect it would be for me either! She had it on my bed when I came back, and it's pretty much been here ever since. I love it so much, Ally! I'm so thankful we're roommates!

Founder's Week started here at Moody tonight. I wasn't able to go because of work, but I'm looking forward to attending as the week goes on! The part I'm looking forward to the most, however, comes Friday morning when my mom's boss, Dr. Ramesh Richard, is speaking. I've known this evangelist for the 15 years my mom has worked for him, and I'm looking forward to hearing him speak in this place I now call home. I'll be assisting at his book table after his message, which should be fun as well.

Here's to a week of sermons, knitting, and trying to get motivated to work on this New Testament Reading Report due next week!

Minor Repairs

This week I made my backpack ghetto. I love this backpack and was not willing to let it go, but also not willing to risk my laptop falling out the back when walking around campus. So, I sewed it up. I love it. I had originally planned on using a bright colored yarn, but then decided to use some rough feeling yarn I had on hand. Maybe I'll add some color to it when it starts wearing out. Maybe it looks ghetto, or maybe it has character...

Self Portrait (36/52)

Same place I took my self portrait as last week, but this I did spend time doing this today...so it's not irrelevant. I went to church, had lunch, got a little organized, ran an errand, celebrated Christmas, started sewing up my backpack, and went to open hall (the only time the opposite gender is allowed on the floor) for our brother floor. We played a game and marveled at how much larger their rooms are than ours. Now it's 9pm, but I didn't get enough homework done this week so Cassidy and I are headed out soon to go visit Ally in the library, so I figured I should get this done so I can crash once we get back. Aaaaand I haven't had dinner yet, aside from some ramen a bro made. College!

Tonight I finally cleared out the area directly in front of this machine, and wiped the dust off. Baby steps, y'all. Maybe tomorrow I'll actually turn it on. *gasp*

Evenings with Mom

Today I worked, hung out at home with my parents, then my mom and I ran a few errands, including Big Lots, where I got a few skeins of their yarn. I'm very interested to see what other Ravelers have to say about it, and my opinion after I knit with them. When we got back home, we planned on doing a little sewing, but we ended up just hanging out on the couch. Also, I spent way too much time on Pinterest looking at different fiber/fabric crafts. *sigh*

Covered in Dust

There on a desk in my room sits a machine. It's covered in dust and buried behind (partcipation) soccer trophies dating back ten years and yarn dating back a few months. Yet, this machine, and the art that comes with it, has somehow made its way into my brain for days now. Maybe this will finally be the summer I learn how to use it. I've got blouses, bags, and blankets (quilts, really, but I had to keep up the alliteration) that I'm itching to try my hand at.
